programmes

The range of Davis programmes provide tools and solutions to address learning differences and overcome challenges associated with learning, reading, writing, mathematics, attention, relationships or social skills.

main elements of each davis programme

TOOLS
The individual is given a simple set of self-management tools to enable them to perceive accurately, and to regulate their stress and energy levels.  This is to enable them to put their brain in a relaxed, focused state, which allows them to have accurate perception, assimilate new information and deal with confusions.

KOOSH

Koosh balls are used to strengthen and enhance the use of the Davis self-management tools in a fun, physical way.

SYMBOL MASTERY™
The Davis Approach uses a hands-on medium of plastilina clay, that enables individuals to create meaning for themselves.  This allows for true mastery.

Symbol Mastery is used in different ways in different programmes.

Dyslexia / Young Learners
Symbol Mastery is used to deal with letters and words.

Autism
Symbol Mastery is used to create a comprehensive set of life-concepts to allow the individual to make sense of their inner and outer world, as well as being able to create order, take responsibility, and understand relationships.

Mathematics
Symbol Mastery is used to deal with concepts, numerals, mathematical symbols and operations.

Attention Mastery (ADD/ADHD)
Symbol Mastery is used to create concepts and scenarios out of clay such as change, consequence, sequence, order and disorder.

The Davis programmes were developed by Ron Davis, author of The Gift of Dyslexia (for reading challenges), The Gift of Learning (maths, attention and writing challenges), and co-author of Autism and the Seeds of Change by Abigail Marshal (Autism spectrum).  It is highly recommended that you read the book applicable to you before beginning a programme.
